Two ways to be in a Dream Builders Group:
Start a new group, or be invited to an existing group by someone you know who has started a group.  No one can join the online global network as an individual.  Everyone in the network must be a part of a group.

Each group must have a designated leader who is trusted by the other group members.  The leader is responsible for:

  • Setting up meetings, invitations
  • Planning the agenda of each meeting
  • Stay in touch with all the members
  • Providing encouragement
  • Delegating as much as possible to the other men
  • Leading the meetings (unless he delegates to another member)

Four things to do:

  • Select at least 4 other men for your group, up to 20 total.  Make sure to have their names and email addresses prior to clicking Start a Group
  • Download/print the DB documents
  • Click ‘start a group’ BUTTON read below before starting – and input all names and email addresses
  • Schedule your first meeting, and set up schedule for all meetings.

Selecting Christian Men:
Participants in Dream Builders should be Christian men who have proven their desire to have a meaningful impact in life by the strength of their character, their activities, and their humility.   Members of Dream Builders should understand the importance of exercising discipline in the following five areas of life:

  • God – have a strong intimate relationship with God through Christ
  • Others – love others, have good relationships, be trustworthy
  • Money – be a good steward of the resources that God has given them
  • Body – be disciplined to not use the body in immoral or unhealthy ways
  • Work  - have a strong work ethic, be respected for the work they do

Understand that we all fall short, and no one ever completely has these areas of life under control.  It is set as a standard to aspire to, also understanding that we are all saved by grace.  These disciplines are important as it is difficult to pursue God-given dreams if these areas of life are out of control.

For a Dream Builders group to stay together and be successful at fulfilling God-given dreams, the men in the group must respect and trust each other.  The more respect and trust between the men, the stronger the group. In reality, these men need to grow to love each other.  The core leaders in the group need to carefully and prayerfully select who they want to join them.

The number one reason why men will stay in a group is the desire to be in relationship with other like-minded men whom they want to be around and “do life with.”   Obviously, not everyone will fit into this category.  Sharing God-given dreams with other people is a very intimate thing, and the men need to trust the other men with whom they are sharing.

Size of a group and frequency of meeting:
A Dream Builders Group is a group of at least five like-minded Christian men that meet together on a regular basis – recommended frequency is once per month.  Twice a month max. Meeting more often can seem like too much over a long period of time.  Meeting less frequently would seem like the group would lose consistency and camaraderie.  What’s the maximum number?  Twenty.  Any more than twenty and individual men will get lost and not feel a part of the group.

Though the meetings are only once or twice a month, you intentionally spend time with the others guys throughout the course of the month ever possible (lunch, coffee, sports, etc.) to discuss life and your dreams.

Forming a Group:
A Dream Builders group must have at least five like-mined Christian men (up to twenty) who desire to encourage each other to pursue God-given dreams.  No one can join the online global network as an individual.  Everyone in the network must be a part of a group.   The only way to be in a group is to start your own, and have at least four other like-minded men who want to join you, or join someone else’s group.

Group Leader:
Each group must have a designated leader.   And, the men in the group must trust the leader to effectively lead the team.  This person is the one responsible for the following:

  • Setting up meetings, invitations
  • Planning the agenda of each meeting
  • Stay in touch with all the members
  • Providing encouragement
  • Delegating as much as possible to the other guys
  • Leading the meetings (unless they delegate it to someone else)

Once you have talked to the four or more men you want in your group, and they agree that you will be the leader, ‘click’ (‘start a group’ BUTTON) and start. Enter your info and theirs (Zip Code, Names, Email addresses). All will receive a confirmation email that they respond to saying two things. One – they want to be a part of the group. Two - they agree that you are the leader.

God-given Dream Defined:
A personal and compelling dream that can be articulated by answering the following two questions:

  • Who do you want to help?
  • How do you want to help them?

Perspective:  God created you so He could use you to love others.

Group Mentorship:
Each Dream Builders group is made up of Christian men of strong character and experience.  Each member brings their own learning and experiences to the group for the benefit of the others within the group.  The monthly meeting is a time of group interaction and mutual mentorship.  As relationships deepen over time, mentoring relationships will naturally form.

Please do not conduct fund-raising activities within your group or through the network.  No one should feel an obligation to give to another man’s dream within a group.  A group will not survive long-term if the members are continually asked for funds.  Obviously members are free to voluntarily financially support any dreams they desire to get behind.
